Root Canal Therapy in Leeds, AL
The right diagnosis. A clear plan. No surprises.

What to Expect When You Need a Root Canal
If you're here because a tooth has been hurting, because another dentist told you a root canal was necessary, or because you just want to understand what you're dealing with before making a decision — that's exactly the right instinct. The more you know going in, the less the unknown has to work against you.
A root canal addresses infection or damage that has reached the inner tissue of the tooth — the pulp. Left untreated, that infection doesn't resolve on its own. It spreads. A root canal removes the source of the problem, seals the tooth, and protects what's left. The goal is straightforward: keep your natural tooth and stop the pain.
What the procedure actually involves. After numbing the area thoroughly, Dr. Aultman accesses the inside of the tooth, clears out the infected or damaged pulp, shapes and cleans the canals, and seals everything closed. Most patients are surprised by how unremarkable the experience is — the tooth is already numb, and the discomfort people associate with root canals is almost always the infection itself, not the procedure. Most visits take between one and two hours, and most patients return to their normal routine the same day.
What happens after. A root canal-treated tooth typically needs a crown to protect it from fracture and restore full function. At Aultman Dental Leeds, that next step is part of the plan from the start — not a separate conversation after the fact. You'll leave your consultation knowing what the full process looks like, what it costs, and when each step is scheduled.
If you've been sitting on a tooth that's been bothering you, or you've already been told you need a root canal and want a second opinion from a provider who will walk through the diagnosis with you directly, we're ready when you are.
"Great place. Great staff. I fell and chipped my teeth on vacation. I called first thing monday morning and Lori got me scheduled the same day. Dr. Kilgore was quick to fix the problem and now it’s like you’d never know my teeth were broken. I’m very thankful for their help and everything they did for me!"
